Updates for Week 8 and 9 Progress

WEEK 8

During this week, several enhancement done to the social network especially on photo uploads, wall posting, personal status updates and simple game. Few testings done to the social network components to verify its functionality and fix existing bugs. Social network is so improved in user-friendly manner and simplified-usage.
Webpage is  re-edited its background to ease user-visibility and do not strain the eyes during long usage. 

WEEK 9
During the group meeting on 1 August 2011, members are gathered to segregate report task and to assess the webpage personally by using it and bugs will be fixed within this week.

The report as been segregated as below based on template provided:


Vinod: Project description and whatever you think want to write
Ram and Shivaraj: Abstract, introduction, Problem Statement & Motivation, System Requirements and Conclusion.
Muneswaran & Thamilarasan:Results, Analysis/Discussion, Future work.

Week 7 progress

Dear all,
As per weekly discussion, we had segregate task for this week (Week 7) which is to accomplish the UML Diagram and settling session login woes quickly. Besides UML, the progress on social webpage design is currently onto rectifying the session login and inserting simple game and picture uploading and viewing tools.
Job division done as below after a meeting (18/07/2011):
Thamilarasan - rectifying session login and including simple game
Ram Naidu - UML diagram and including simple game
Muneswaran - UML diagram and rectifying session login
Shiva - Updating blog on information and UML diagram
Vinod -Including simple game, rectifying session login and updating blogsport

Task A - Create a brief proposal.
Task B - Identify which technology, database system, and programming language to be
              to be used and start to learn them.
Task C - Create the project blog and start uploading.

Task to do

To create a quality social network system systematically by  using the PHP programming language and MySQL database.

How to accomplish the project?

1) PHP programming language used to create social network site. As the first step, each of us assigned to the following positions below:

-Project Manager (Team Leader) – Thamilarasan Ramalingam

-Programming Leader & Programmer – Vinod Janarthnan

-Design Manager – Muneswaran Annamalai

-Documentation Manager- Ramnaidu Vasudiven

2) Next, a blog is created to post the  updates and project progresses. Furthermore, as the  PHP language is preferred by all the team members to progress the assignment, it is made compulsory for all the team  members to learn the language and MySQL decided to be  used as our  database system.

3) For our further work, diagram will be planned and Gantt chart will be drawn. Besides, system requirement diagrams by using Unified Modelling Language (UML) will be prepared. (After been taught in lectures).

 

4) Software system will be developed together by:

-Modifying existing source codes from online resources

5) Our developed application will be tested and the testing results will be documented.

6) Lastly, technical report will be prepared (Note: Updates will be posted in blog)

What problems to be solved?

PHP programming language and MySQL database is an important tool to drive the assignment successfully. A huge drawback where the team members whom do not have skills to use this resources. Therefore, continuous study is recommended to group members to participate in the assignment effectively.

A good time management is required to achieve the goal of the project without being affected by work of other subjects.
